Girls Swimming Update (4/14)
we just finished 4th at the Yamamoto Relays at St. Francis this past Saturday, 4-12. We scored 212 points - the most points Leland has earned at the meet in many years.
Cassandra Scott placed 9th in the 200 back and 5th in the 50 back; Emily Chortek placed 2nd in the 200 breast and 3rd in the 50 breast; Brianna Sherrin placed 6th in the 1000; Kelsey Nolan placed 2nd in the 50 free with a qualifying CCS time; Ariel Young placed 5th in the 50 free; Colleen Bole placed 10th in the 200 fly; Eleni Sarantinos placed 7th in the 50 fly; Nikki Sarantinos placed 9th in the 50 fly. All these girls scored individual points for the team. Also, the 400 free relay of Melinda McKenzie, Brianna Sherrin, Ariel Young, and Kelsey Nolan dropped 4 seconds off their time to place 4th; the 400 free relay of Kasey Cheng, Meghan Bucter, Jaya Kasiraj, and Tam Nguyen placed 10th; the 200 medley relay of Cassandra Scott, Emily Chortek, Brianna Sherrin, and Melinda McKenzie placed 5th; the 200 medley relay of Tam Nguyen, Meghan Bucter, Eleni Sarantinos, and Kasey Cheng placed 11th; the 200 free relay of Melinda McKenzie, Brianna Sherrin, Ariel Young, and Kelsey Nolan placed 3rd; and the 200 free relay of Kasey Cheng, Meghan Bucter, Eleni Sarantinos, and Tam Nguyen placed 9th. We had 20 best times at the meet. Huge step up for all of these girls. They showed a lot of heart and competitive fire.
